The Pet Keeper Project

Most people who surrender a pet don’t want to. They are dealing with rent spikes, medical bills, sudden changes, and the weight of trying to keep it all together. Shelters see it every day, and they are stretched thin. Good families walk in with good animals, and nobody feels good about it.

The Pet Keeper Project was created to interrupt that cycle.

Pet Keeper is building a community safety net for people and their pets. It connects owners to the support already around them, volunteers who want to help, trainers, vets, carpenters, neighbors, nonprofits, and small businesses willing to step up. We turn that goodwill into something more organized, responsive, and local.

Today, when someone is struggling with a vet bill, a behavior issue, housing trouble, food and supplies, temporary care, or another challenge, Pet Keeper helps research resources, find possible solutions, and connect people with others who may be able to help.

As the platform grows, we want to make those connections even easier. Volunteers will be able to offer their time and skills. Professionals will be able to share services and expertise. Landlords will be able to connect with responsible pet owners looking for pet-friendly housing. Shelters and community organizations will have another place to direct people who may still have options before surrender becomes necessary.

At its core, The Pet Keeper Project blends technology, compassion, and neighborhood energy to help keep pets where they can safely remain at home. It works upstream, before a difficult situation becomes a crisis, while supporting shelters, local workers, small businesses, and the people already doing this work in their communities. As it grows city by city, the goal is to help build a stronger model for animal welfare.

With your help, this becomes possible faster. Every volunteer, donor, partner, and neighbor becomes part of the impact. Every donated hour, repaired fence, trained dog, shared resource, and useful connection can give someone another option before surrender feels like the only one.

The Pet Keeper Project is not just a platform. It is a movement powered by people who believe pets are family and communities are stronger when they show up for each other.

Let’s build something that lasts.
