TERMS OF SERVICE
Effective Date: September 8, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Pet Keeper Project website, forms, communications, community resources, and other services offered by Pet Keeper Project, Inc. By using our website or submitting information to Pet Keeper Project, you agree to these Terms.
1. ABOUT PET KEEPER PROJECT
Pet Keeper Project, Inc. is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation focused on helping people find practical resources, community support, information, and possible solutions when a companion animal may be at risk of surrender, rehoming, abandonment, or inadequate care.
Pet Keeper Project is a developing nonprofit organization. Our programs and services may change as the organization grows.
2. RESOURCE NAVIGATION AND CASE SUPPORT
People may contact Pet Keeper Project for help locating resources related to companion animal welfare, including veterinary care, behavior concerns, food and supplies, temporary care, housing-related issues, rehoming, and other circumstances.
Pet Keeper Project may research available resources, provide referrals, suggest possible next steps, seek ideas from volunteers or community members, and make introductions when appropriate.
Submitting a request does not guarantee that Pet Keeper Project will be able to locate a resource, secure funding, find a foster, arrange services, prevent surrender, or resolve the situation.
3. INFORMATION SHARED WITH VOLUNTEERS OR PARTNERS
To help identify possible resources or solutions, Pet Keeper Project may share a summary of a situation with volunteers, community members, nonprofit organizations, or other relevant participants.
We generally seek to avoid sharing unnecessary identifying information.
Personal contact information or other identifying information will not be shared for direct connection with another person or organization without appropriate permission, except where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety concern.
Our handling of personal information is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
4. NO EMERGENCY SERVICES
Pet Keeper Project is not an emergency veterinary service, animal control agency, law enforcement agency, crisis response service, or emergency shelter.
If an animal or person is in immediate danger, contact an appropriate veterinarian, emergency veterinary hospital, animal control agency, law enforcement agency, or emergency service directly.
5. NO PROFESSIONAL ADVICE
Information provided through Pet Keeper Project is for general educational and resource-navigation purposes.
Pet Keeper Project does not provide veterinary, legal, medical, financial, behavioral, or other licensed professional advice unless the information is specifically provided by an appropriately qualified professional acting in that professional capacity.
You are responsible for deciding whether a resource or recommendation is appropriate for your situation.
6. THIRD-PARTY RESOURCES
Pet Keeper Project may provide links, contact information, referrals, or information about veterinarians, rescues, shelters, trainers, businesses, nonprofit organizations, government programs, fundraising campaigns, or other third parties.
Providing or sharing a resource does not constitute a guarantee, certification, endorsement, or warranty of that person or organization.
Availability, eligibility requirements, pricing, policies, and services are controlled by the third party and may change without notice.
Users should independently evaluate any provider or organization before relying on its services.
7. VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Pet Keeper Project may receive assistance from volunteers and community members who research resources, offer ideas, make connections, or voluntarily provide services.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, volunteers are not employees, agents, veterinarians, attorneys, or authorized professional representatives of Pet Keeper Project.
Pet Keeper Project cannot guarantee the conduct, availability, qualifications, or performance of independent volunteers or third parties.
8. COMMUNITY FORUM AND USER PARTICIPATION
Pet Keeper Project plans to offer community discussion and resource-sharing features in the future.
If a Forum or similar community feature becomes available, users will be expected to communicate respectfully and use the service for lawful, constructive purposes.
Pet Keeper Project may moderate, remove, restrict, or refuse content that includes harassment, threats, fraud, spam, unsafe advice, misinformation, unlawful material, inappropriate commercial solicitation, privacy violations, or content inconsistent with the mission of the organization.
Different opinions are welcome. Cruelty and harassment are not.
9. USER-SUBMITTED INFORMATION
When you submit information, photographs, descriptions, messages, or other materials to Pet Keeper Project, you represent that you have the right to provide them and that the information is truthful to the best of your knowledge.
Do not knowingly provide false information, impersonate another person, or submit material that violates another person's rights.
You remain responsible for the information you provide.
10. PHOTOS, STORIES, AND PUBLIC SHARING
Pet Keeper Project may ask permission to share stories, photographs, videos, or case information for educational, fundraising, community-support, or awareness purposes.
Submitting information to request help does not automatically give Pet Keeper Project permission to publicly identify you.
Where appropriate, Pet Keeper Project may use de-identified or generalized information to seek resources, understand community needs, or educate the public.
11. CHARITABLE ASSISTANCE
Pet Keeper Project plans to establish a limited charitable assistance program when funding becomes available.
Financial assistance is not guaranteed.
Eligibility may be based on factors such as animal-welfare need, financial or situational hardship, urgency, available alternatives, likely benefit of the assistance, and available charitable funds.
Pet Keeper Project may pay an approved veterinarian, provider, vendor, or documented expense directly rather than provide unrestricted cash.
12. DONATIONS AND FUNDRAISING
Pet Keeper Project may accept donations and other charitable support for its own programs. We may also occasionally share fundraising efforts organized by animal welfare organizations or by individuals seeking help with an animal-welfare need. When we direct people to an independent fundraising page, donations made through that page go to the recipient or fundraising platform. Pet Keeper Project does not receive or retain those funds.
Pet Keeper Project does not guarantee that any contribution will qualify for a tax deduction. Donors are responsible for consulting their own tax adviser regarding deductibility.
13. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise stated, the Pet Keeper Project name, logo, website content, original written materials, graphics, photographs, videos, educational materials, and other original content created by or for Pet Keeper Project are owned by Pet Keeper Project, Inc. or used with permission.
